McCracken County, located at the confluence of the Ohio and Tennessee Rivers, is West Kentucky’s most populous county with a population of 67,875 as of the 2020 census. Anchored by Paducah as the county seat, residents enjoy a blend of river history, commerce, and a thriving art culture. Paducah’s history was based on its river and rail traffic but today serves as a major retail and arts area in addition to having a strong industrial base. Designated as a UNESCO Creative City for Crafts and Folk Art, Paducah has a thriving arts community in historic Lower Town and is the home of the National Quilt Museum.
