Murray and Calloway County are a unique blend of scenic beauty, a thriving economic base of industry and agriculture, home to a nationally recognized University and two excellent school systems. This blend provides a diverse, cultural experience not usually enjoyed by small cities. The 2020 census recorded a county population of 37,103 citizens. With an entry tagline of “Feels Like Home”, Murray, the county seat, has been named America’s Friendliest Small Town by Rand McNally-USA Today Best of the Road Series. Bounded on the east by Kentucky Lake with over 2,000 miles of shoreline, and proximity to the Land Between the Lake National Recreation Area, nature lovers living in the county enjoy boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping just a few miles from home. The community’s commitment to the future is reflected in the recent completion of both a state-of-the-art regional cancer center and a beautiful new public library. Murray State University is ranked as the #8 Top Public University in the South by US News and #23 in Regional Universities in the South. Both public school systems provide award-winning educational opportunities and afterschool activities for grades Pre-K through 12. Murray and Calloway County’s commitment to creating and supporting a strong sense of community certainly does make Murray “Feel Like Home.”
